How does a dancer get into Company?
Dancers submit a Company Interest Form, pay the audition fee through Studio Director, and attend the audition. Final placements are made solely at the discretion of Kelly Colgan Thaxton.

Led by Kelly Colgan-Thaxton, Stage Door Dance Company is a renowned 501(c) non-profit organization founded in 1992 by Julie Colgan. The program offers dedicated dancers the chance to elevate their technique, refine their presentation skills, and build teamwork through competitive performance experiences.
Beyond competition, dancers enjoy cultural activities, artistic inspiration, career training, and even employment opportunities. Through the program, students develop self-discipline, confidence, and self-esteem — skills they carry with them beyond the studio.
The program includes group numbers, and dancers may also be considered for small groups, solos, duos, and trios depending on placement and director approval.

An introductory competitive experience for young dancers building foundational technique.
2nd–4th Grade
Developing artistry and stage presence with age-appropriate choreography and competition experience.
5th–6th Grade
Expanding dance vocabulary and teamwork through more demanding group and ensemble work.
7th–8th Grade
Refining technique, performance quality, and building consistent stage presence.
9th–10th Grade
Intensive training focused on versatility, expression, and competitive excellence.
11th–12th Grade
Advanced mastery, leadership, and preparation for life beyond the studio stage.

No — dancers from outside the studio may apply. The interest form asks whether your dancer is currently enrolled and, if not, about their training background.

Yes. The interest form allows you to indicate interest in solos, duos, and trios. These are reviewed and approved by the director based on ability, readiness, and scheduling.

No. Auditions are competitive and placement is not guaranteed. The studio reserves the right to modify Company structures and placements as needed.
