Stage Door Dance Studio Policies

Attendance

Attendance on a regular basis is essential in order for the student to progress. NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE IN THE CASE OF ABSENCES. Absences may be made up in another class. Be sure to alert the studio if there is to be an extended series of absences.

Arrival Time

Students should arrive no sooner than 15 minutes before their lesson begins, and should be picked up promptly after each lesson is over. The school is not responsible for students once their class is dismissed.

Late Arrivals

Students arriving to class after the warm-up period (15 minutes) will be asked to sit out that class. This is for your child's benefit and physical safety. Your child will observe that class.

Progress

Parents wishing to discuss their child's progress should send a note to arrange a time for a conference. Please do not try to talk to the teacher between classes.

Dance Attire

Please have your child come to dance class in appropriate dance clothes. All students are required to purchase a black studio leotard from the studio. Black Studio leotards must be worn for EVERY dance class. Pink tights for Ballet, black or tan for all other classes. You may wear dance shorts over your leotards. NO SHIRTS ALLOWED.

The following shoes are required:

Ballet - Pink ballet shoes
Tap - Suntan tap shoes for all classes except advanced
Jazz - Suntan jazz shoes for all classes except advanced

Lyrical - See instructor
Pom Pons - Black jazz shoes
Creative Movement - Tan tap shoes and pink ballet shoes

If you have any questions, your child's teacher will be more than willing to discuss this with you.

Costume Fees

It is the parents' responsibility to purchase the dance costumes used for recital. We work very hard to keep costs down. Most costumes average approximately $60 each. Families purchasing several costumes are welcome to make advance payments to avoid the expense at one time.

Recital

Our annual dance recital is held in June. Participation in the recital is voluntary but encouraged. If a student does not wish to participate, the instructor should be notified immediately. A dress rehearsal is held in the week prior to the recital. Please do not schedule other activities on these days.

Tickets are $12.00-if a smaller child takes a seat, they must purchase a ticket.

The safety of your child(ren) is the most important responsibility that Stage Door has. That is why all backstage doors will be locked at 1:30- and reopened at the end of the show (approximately 3 hours). We will have security men working the show so no one may enter or leave the backstage area. If you would like to volunteer backstage (great fun) we would love to have you. As stated in the all information concerning the recital, all students must remain backstage for the entire production. Also, children will participate in the grande finale and receive a wonderful reward for their hard work this year.

Please note that videotaping and flash photography will not be allowed the day of the show; however, you can bring your video cameras and cameras with a flash to the rehearsal.

Pictures

Pictures will be taken for your enjoyment and for the studio yearbook. All group pictures will be printed in the book, but individual pictures are only printed when parents and/or students purchase space. You may get sponsors to purchase ads for your. The pictures are the responsibility of the individual, not the studio. The instructors will pose all the students, but parents must purchase the pictures from the photography studio. The photographers are not a subsidiary of Stage Door Dance Studio.

Individual and class pictures will be taken the week of April 26th during class time. Saturday classes will be taken on Thursday, April 29th at 5:30. Due to the lack of parents purchasing pictures last year, the photographer will need a non-refundable $25.00 sitting fee per student that will be applied towards your purchase. The prices of the pictures and ads have been remained the same for 4 years.

PARENTS...PLEASE NOTE - Since time is very limited during the photo sessions NO special-effect or collage photos will be created unless you have made prior arrangements with the photographer.
